Happy 70th, Wonderful Tarpons!
Fortunately, I am still in my late, late sixties. (But it won’t be long.) Thank you to our awesome Reunion Committee for your dedication to these continuing acts of love. Isn’t it great to be involved in an event that makes so many people so happy? |
Wonderful time again with classmates. Looking forward to many more occasions to share with everyone. Nelson |

Our 70th Birthday
I just can’t believe that we are turning 70; I still think of all of us as 16. Perhaps that is because we are all still “Young at Heart.” So looking forward to partying will ya’ll again ! Happy Birthday US ! |

50th Reunion
What a fabulous weekend! It was so much fun to see old friends and catch up with what has been going on in their lives. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated Reunion Commitee! Thanks, Brenda |
Memorable Weekend
Thanks to all, Hank, Anne, Linda, John, Ben, to name a few, who worked on making Fortier class of ’63 50th reunion so spectacular. The choice of hotel, the band (who doesn’t love Deacon John), the evening with Leif at Manning’s, gift bags, buffet, every one of my classmates, all went toward making it one unforgettable weekend. Even New Orleans celebrated our class with pretty good weather. It was wonderful being back home among all things familiar. Let’s do it again! Maggie Maier Kadlecek |
Thanks for a special weekend
Thanks to the reunion committee for all the planning and work that had to go into pulling off such a fun weekend. A special “thank you” to Hank Greenwald and Barbara McAbee Guillory for tracking me down after so many years. It was great to see so many old friends again. For a while it felt like I was 17 all over again and, surprisingly, at 68 I didn’t pay the price for that the next morning. Looking forward to the next event. One last thing – congratulations to Bobby and Celeste on your upcoming marriage – wishing you all the best. |
Other Classes Should Be So Fortunate

Thank You Attendees!
As Contact Chairman of our Reunion Committee, I would like to thank all of the classmates and friends who attended our 50 year reunion. Without you….we (the Reunion Committee, would be washing dishes and cleaning room’s at Harrah’s for a long time. But thanks to you, we had one special weekend. I would like to say that we worked really hard for this event, but, in reality, we had lots of fun working for you. I make a promise to you, we’ll work real hard on a Seventieth Birthday Party (damn that can’t be right), and you all will meet once again. Thank you for your loyalty to our class, and for your friendship. Because of all of you….we really are “IN A CLASS BY ITSELF”! John Hickman |
Thank You So Much
Reuben and I had the best time at the Friday and Saturday night events. It was wonderful being with everyone. Many, many thanks for a memorable weekend. Best Wishes, Marlene |
Reunion
Hope you had a wonderful party. Sorry I missed it! |
Getting Married
John (Hickman), we had such a wonderful time at the reunion. It was the best yet! Celeste and I are getting married in two weeks in the Smokey Mountains. Then we’re going to Washington D.C. for a little vacation before we go on a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean. Stay cool my friend. Bobby |
From Our Favorite Teacher
Dear Hank, As the “engine” behind the wonderful job that the steering committee did on the 50th Reunion celebration, I want to say THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS ! It was a great event. I had a wonderful time seeing all of you precious people. The Class of ’63 IS “in a class all by itself”. I feel so happy to have had (and still have) you all in my life. Love Shirley. |
Thanks Benny
Benny, Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to our website. Robert |
What a weekend!!!!!!!
Wow, my heartfelt thanks to the best reunion committee. You gave us the most wonderful 50th reunion in the world. It was so great to see so many friends from our schooldays. Many of us went from Kindergarten through graduation together. My husband and I had a ball(he is from Nicholls High School, and he was impressed). So happy to reconnect with Elroy Cain and meet his lovely wife. I am sorry that I did not get to see and talk to Sally White, but I will make sure to do that at our birthday party. Some of us get together for lunch and fellowship every month or so and I hope that we can get some more to join us. Leif, I really enjoyed your band and thanks for playing for us. Once again, THANKS, for a fabulous party and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again in 2 years. Like Leif said, I am also very proud to be a 1963 graduate of Fortier High School. Words cannot express how terrific the committee is and also how wonderful to have Ben as a part of all this. Love to you all and God bless you. |
Reunited with our Classmates
I was so happy to be reunited with our classmates. Especially happy to see Maxine and Benny. Thanks again for your hard work. It truly was awesome. I can’t begin to thank the committee enough for all the hard work that went into the most wonderful reunion experience. I hope you all realize what you were able to achieve. 230 classmates having such a happy time. I keep reliving so many special moments. What a way to spend a weekend before having knee replacement tomorrow. Deepest gratitude. Love, Sallie |
Simply Fantastic!
I still cannot believe the party you planned! It was simply fantastic! Certainly, it took so much hard work for all of you, but I feel sure you know everyone there appeared to be having the time of their lives. It is so nice of you to include me. Mary George Jester (Class of ’64) |
Indebted to the “Angels”
I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for the hard work you put in for months making this event such an EVENT! It goes without saying that I am indebted to the “angels” who made my big band’s appearance possible on Friday night. The guys thoroughly enjoyed performing for the very gracious and special crowd, as did I. It was certainly one of my more memorable evenings performing and one I will fondly remember forever… Leif Proud to be a Classmate of the alums of Fortier ’63! |
Couldn’t have been better !!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Committee, Well, on a scale of 1 to 10, this weekend deserves a “37”. Couldn’t have been better !!!!!!!!!!! While EVERYONE who participated deserves blue ribbon accolades, I felt a special “shout out” to 5 people was in order . . . Hank, Nelson, Bonnie, Lynda Lee, and of course, Ben. Without their leadership, guidance, and hard work, our event might have been like those of other classes, just another night with old friends. But Hank and Nelson . . . you guys went over the top, almost giving up your personal lives to plan, supervise, and solve every detail and issue we faced, in order that “all” would remember this weekend forever. And Bonnie and Lynda Lee . . . your efforts to secure the right venue, negotiate such a super deal, and to convince Deacon that he was part of our family too, did not go unnoticed. Ben . . . well what else can I say that everyone else has already repeated? You really made it happen and we all are eternally grateful. The website is over the top, and the many hours you devoted towards creating and disseminating those volumes of correspondence really made this whole thing work. And this “shout out” does not in any way minimize the hard work of all in the committee, for this event truly was a group effort, and it took the group to accomplish the goal. We truly hit it out of the park, as everyone will attest, and for that, I share my heartfelt “THANKS”. We are a very lucky and special group, as evidenced by such a huge turn-out, and I look forward sharing these good times with everyone again. I’m glad to have you all as my friends. Jonnie |
Sincere Congratulations
John (Hickman), sincere congratulations to you and the Reunion Committee for putting on a first class event. You all went out of the way to make this occasion one of the most memorable events of our lives. From the venue, to the food, and, of course, the entertainment, everything flowed together perfectly. Thank you personally for your phone calls and e-mails encouraging me to attend. Louis and I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and it was great seeing everyone again. Please pass on my compliments to the whole Committee. Thanks again, Jo Ann |
A Chance to Say Thanks
Never got a chance to tell everyone how much I enjoyed the party you all did a great job. Met people who knew me, but I did not know them. Band was fantastic. Food was great. Best regards, Danny |
We’ll Never Forget!
What a weekend we had! I am still elated with all we accomplished. Bouquets to all who celebrated with us. I know everyone had a ball. We will never forget our 50th. We were back in the 60’s for a while and it was a blast!!!!! Love, Anne |
Thanks to Reunion Committee
Thank you wonderful, talented Reunion Committee. YOU made your dream come true…THE BEST PARTY EVER…and more…my opinion…THE BEST REUNION WEEKEND, EVER, BY ANY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS, ANYWHERE. Agree? Thank you for letting me be your quarterback and throwing the ball to each of you, (I love sports analogies.) and never dropping the ball, and always scoring a touchdown…And now, winning the game…to the absolute delight of 230 attendees! Love to you all, Hank |
Thanks for the Memories!
What an absolutely perfect reunion! Thank you to our wonderful reunion committee for all the time, effort and expertise they spent to make this a night to remember. I especially enjoyed the time I got to spend with my old high school friends. They’ll be my friends for life and the memories of this reunion will be with me always. Thank you all for the award you gave me. It’s sitting on my mantle at home where I can proudly show it off. Thank you, Fortier ’63, for letting me be a part of all this! ’63 Really Rocks! Benny |
